“Brow gels are the easiest way to groom, redirect, fill in, or tame brow hair,” Bailey says. “It really depends on the nature of your brows, you can use it to style it in a nice fluffy way. You can use it to keep its shape and place all day, or you can use it to really tame those unruly hairs that tend to go crazy,” adds Healy.

“People love using this trick because it’s an inexpensive way to build strength and helps keep your brows in place all day, especially if you have thick, unruly hair,” says Bailey. “It’s actually considered an old Hollywood secret that’s been used by makeup artists on set, in editorial beauty and fashion shoots, and even in drag makeup for decades.” Soap brows are a great way to trick out foiled brows. “It’s a very stylized look, but for me, it’s not a no-makeup makeup look,” says Healy. “It seems that the eyebrows have been manipulated in that way. There are many expensive products on the market that are brow-like products, but a good old-fashioned soap, specifically a clear bar of glycerin soap, will do the job. I always recommend Pears, it is a very simple glycerin soap that is commonly seen.”

“Finding the right brow gel for you can be very personal depending on how you want it to work,” says Bailey. “I love brow gels that don’t get crunchy or crunchy and ones that don’t leave a residue behind,” says Healy. “Sometimes brow gels leave this flaking behind and I prefer them to leave a malleable, flexible hold. For me, that’s a light to medium weight hold. If you need something a little more intense, you can go for a mustache wax, and I think it’s even better than using a bar of soap. It’s also cheap, but it’s made for the hair and gives it a little more hold. But, most people are good with basic to medium brow gel, and people don’t always know that you can actually layer brow gel.”

“These days, there are so many different types,” says Healy. For Bailey, answering these questions is key to finding the perfect brow gel. “Do you want a strong hold or a light hold? Do you want a tinted or transparent gel? Fiber-reinforced volumizing gel or something flatter? Quick dry time or something more viable? The two most common types of brow gels are brow gels and fiber brow gels. A fixed brow keeps the hair in place, while a fiber gel can help make the brow look fuller and more fluffy.
