Four people, including two students, were injured after being shot at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana state on Saturday, officials said as police investigated whether a financial dispute led to the incident.
The incident occurred shortly after Governor Bandaro Dattatreya, who is also the university’s chancellor, left the university after attending a party on campus.
It was reported that three people were involved in the crime. Police said the attackers managed to escape after the incident.
“Four wounded. We are investigating who opened the fire,” Pramod Gautam said. “Preliminary investigations reveal that a monetary dispute is behind the crime.”
The organization said that the injured were taken to hospital, adding that one of them was seriously injured.
