“A happy fighter is a dangerous fighter”
Jonathan Haggerty may be headed for the biggest fight of his combat sports career, but there’s not an ounce of worry on his face as he counts down the days to their showdown.
‘The General’ will try to be the first man to defeat Nong-O Hama in the ONE Championship when they meet at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video on Friday, April 21. His clash will be over Nong-O’s ONE world bantamweight muay thai title.
In an interview with ONE Championship, the English striker shared how his preparations for the big fight are going.
Jonathan Haggerty said:
“Fight camp is much easier, less stressful. And you know what they say? A happy fighter is a dangerous fighter. So yeah, we’re ready. We have more in the tank.
Haggerty, a former ONE world flyweight muay thai champion, faced some health issues hitting the flyweight limit which led to his withdrawal from two scheduled fights. He later decided to move up to a heavier weight class, making a successful debut by defeating Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4.
He is now on a collision course with Nong-O, with an excellent chance to win a world title in a second weight class.
It’s not going to be easy for the English striker though, as the ONE World Muay Thai Bantamweight Champion has been on a dominant streak of late. With five consecutive stoppages, the Thai star will surely look to add Jonathan Haggerty to his list of conquests and continue his reign at the top of the division.
Their matchup, along with the rest of ONE Fight Night 9, will take place at Lumpinee Stadium in US primetime on April 21, streaming live and free on Prime Video for free. Amazon subscribers in North America.
