A Tamil Nadu woman being given a toothpick, gang raped in Kerala;  3 Arrested: Police

Kannur:

Police on Thursday said three people have been arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape of a Tamil Nadu woman in Kannur district of Kerala state.

Kannur City Police have arrested a woman named Malar, a native of Tamil Nadu, Bigish and Mustafa, a resident of Nileswaram from Salem in connection with the incident.

Police said Malar is linked to the victim’s husband.

TK Ratnakumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, said, “The incident took place on 27 August. The young woman was gang-raped after she lost consciousness by drinking alcoholic drink juice. The victim is undergoing treatment at Kannur District Hospital.”

On August 23, she arrived in Kannur from Tamil Nadu and was living in Malar House.

After the hospital authorities informed the police, the accused left the state.

Later, in the investigation conducted by the Kannur City Police, three accused including a woman in the case from Salem were taken into custody, Mr. Ratnakumar added.
