Sri Lanka kept its nerve to finally score a thrilling victory over Bangladesh to qualify for the DP World Cup Super Four in Asia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday night.
Chasing a hard target of 184, Sri Lanka went home with 2 wickets and four balls to spare.
They face Afghanistan, to which they lost in the opening match of the tournament, in the Super Four at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Conquest Kusal Mendis led Sri Lanka’s batting effort with 60 points from 37 deliveries that included four limits and three sixes, while captain Dasun Shanaka made 45 of 33 balls with three sixes and fours.
Average slave Abadut Hussain picked three wickets, while Taskin Ahmed got two for 24.
Earlier, Afif Hussain and opener Mehdi Hassan helped Bangladesh score 183-7.
Hussain scored 39 of 22 balls with four limits and sixties, while Hassan made 38 of 26 deliveries containing two limits and an equal number of six. Mosaddegh Hussein cracked an unbeaten shot 24 which had four limits.
Mahmoud Allah made 27 of 22 deliveries with four singles and six, while Captain Shakib Al Hassan scored 24 of 22 balls with three fours.
Sri Lankan mid-range Chamika earned a two-for-32, while spinner Wanindo Hasaranga got a 2-for-41.
Earlier, Sri Lankan captain Dason Chanaka won the toss and chose to run.
