Samantha Diaz needs your prayers right now.
The aspiring artist, better known as Just Sam, won the ABC version of American Idol in 2020.
She’s spent the past few days keeping followers updated on her physical and mental condition amid a disturbing hospital stay, and shared via Instagram Stories on Friday:
“100 lbs is crazy… I desperately need help.”
Diaz did not reveal the reason for her hospitalization.
The 23-year-old initially told fans she was under doctors’ care on Wednesday, posting a message on her Instagram Stories page saying:
“Thank you to everyone who checked me out. I am alive and out of the hospital.”
However, Diaz appeared to be back in the hospital the next day.
In a short video, she is seen wearing a mask and writing at the time: “I need better brothers in the hospital. I hate this place. Honestly.”
Diaz rose to fame on the small screens two years ago after crowning the American Idol winner during a virtual (and remotely due to COVID-19) episode of the long-running singing competition.
“My grandmother used to say that she didn’t believe that people like us could have dreams come true,” the Harlem native said previously on the show.
“This is her proof!”
An encouraging story for viewers, Diaz—who sang in subway stations while fulfilling her dream and trying to make money—added at the time:
“I kept pushing, I kept singing and looking for where it brought me.
“I hope to inspire all the young girls who believe their dreams can never come true.
“Anyone can do it.”
In June, Diaz opened up about her psychological struggles on social media, telling People:
“I was tired, but I was also kicking this really depressed a**! And that’s my thing. God is with me.
“No weapon will work against me in the name of Jesus. I am so grateful to be a child of God. Knowing that no matter what, God will work it out, and that saves me. #Thank God.”
Diaz signed a record deal with Hollywood Records after winning American Idol, but left the label without ever releasing an album.
“I make music. I can’t afford to release music, because mixing and mastering music costs a lot of money. I invested in myself and ended up going bankrupt.”
“It’s the truth,” she said on Instagram in January, adding:
“It’s hard just because I’m out of my pocket and I have bills to pay. And American Idol won’t pay my bills.
“Lionel Richie won’t pay my bills. Katy Perry won’t pay my bills. Luke Bryan won’t pay my bills. I have to pay my rent.
“I have to make sure I eat every day, which is hard to do.”
