Catalina Sandino Moreno Joins Ana de Armas in Lionsgate’s ‘John Wick’ Spinoff ‘Ballerina’

Catalina Sandino Moreno has boarded Dancerlionsgate’s john wick spin-off that will see her appear alongside Ana de Armas.

An Oscar nominee for her debut in Maria Full of GraceMoreno will soon be seen as the female lead in John Woo’s role Silent Night. She also recently starred in the independent film. barbariansalongside Iwan Rheon and Tom Cullen, and currently stars in the horror series Epix Of, which is filming its second season.

production in Dancer is already underway, with Len Wiseman in the director’s chair and Shay Hatten penning the script. The action movie is set in the universe of the john wick franchise movies starring Keanu Reeves.

Plot details involve a young woman with assassin abilities who uses said abilities to get revenge when hitmen kill her family. Producers are Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski. Brady Fujikawa and Chelsea Kujawa are overseeing the Lionsgate project.

“One of the challenges of casting Dancer is to make sure that the new roles are played by actors with as much power, emotional presence and physical ability as Ana has,” producer Lee said in a statement. “After working with Catalina on John Woo Silent Nightit was clear she belonged at the top of our list, and it’s exciting to be reunited with her.”
