The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) assigned to the Anti-Narcotics Wing of Delhi Police for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 7.89 lakh from one of the accused under investigation, a case in which the role of the Assistant Commissioner of Police was also under scanner.
Officials said the agency arrested ASI Dushyant Gautam for allegedly accepting bribes on the instructions of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Brijpal, who also works in the anti-drug wing.
The CBI in the First Information Report (FIR) against the two men alleged that Brijpal requested Rs 15 lakh through Dushyant Gautam to relieve the wife of the accused who is facing investigation in a case registered under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Bahlswa Police Station.
They said that the accused went to the Central Bank of Iraq with a complaint against police officials.
A CBI spokesperson said in a statement, “The CBI set a trap and arrested ASI (the aforementioned official) while accepting a bribe of Rs 7.89 thousand from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused located in Delhi and Faridabad. The investigation is ongoing.” a permit.
