The Chicago Bears made a bold move at the trade deadline by trading Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool.
It seemed obvious that Claypool would be moved, but not many people expected it to be the Bears.
Chicago has a young quarterback in Justin Fields, for whom they needed another weapon.
Now, with Claypool in the fold, it will be interesting to see how quickly he can make an impact.
The former second-round pick was an afterthought this year in Pittsburgh’s offense.
In eight games, he had 32 receptions for 311 yards and a touchdown.
Claypool considers himself a “playmaker” and should get a chance to prove it in Chicago.
Bears WR Chase Claypool: “I’m a playmaker… I feel like I didn’t get the full opportunity to show what I could do this year, but I feel like I’ve been able to show that in the past.”

His inability to make plays on the Steelers this year was due to their young quarterback and struggling offensive line.
Pittsburgh hasn’t had anything going all year and with a lot of mouths to feed on that offense, Claypool was left out.
Chicago Passing Game
After being the worst passing team in the NFL at the start of the year, the Bears have gotten better of late.
Fields has been shooting the ball very well, including his best game of the year against the Cowboys in Week 8.
He threw for just 151 yards but had two TD passes and completed 73.9% of his shots.
It will be interesting to see if the Bears will open up their offense for Fields now with Claypool in the lineup.
Running the ball is not a problem in Chicago as they do it very successfully.
But to do anything substantial in the NFL, you have to be an effective passing team.
That’s what the Bears expect.
