Last night, the most talented artists, licensees and industry leaders in black entertainment came together to recognize the best in R&B and hip-hop. The Soul Train Awards is the biggest event in both genres and features powerful performances, moving tributes and appearances. Nights like this usually begin with a star-studded red carpet where attendees show off their exquisite looks. This year, stars from the darling Coco Jones to the very famous Queen Naija took to the red carpet in dynamic style. Here are some of the highlights of the night.
Coco Jones rocked the red carpet in an ultra-fit mermaid skirt and strapless crop top with keyhole slit. Opera gloves certainly tie together the elegance of the look, but we wonder if a sheer glove might have been a better choice. Anyway, Coco looks great from her radiant red lip to the bubble hem on her skirt.
Ari has done her best in this LaQuan Smith champagne set. We love this color on her and find the metal and acrylic fixture to mix dynamic and fresh.
lucky day

Lucky Daye’s bright monochromatic look lit up the red carpet and our Instagram feeds. It was an attention-grabbing look, and coincidentally, it coincided perfectly with the upcoming vacation.
Baby Tate in Roberto Cavalli

It was a night of refinement for Baby Tate. part time cozy girl she passed the ceremony in a magnificently draped black silk gown. She gave elegance and romanticism.
We always appreciate it when men step out of their usual black suits and bring a bit of color to the red carpet. Tank’s colorblock suit is almost as handsome as he is.

We were green with envy watching Miss Luckett last night. Her emerald Jovani dress was definitely the funniest and sexiest of the night.
Similar to Kim Kardashian’s Baby2Baby ballgown look, Queen Naija brought the beauty in pink energy in a dress that has it all: thigh-high slit, slit bust, off the shoulders and a gauntlet. Talk about bringing the Pressure.
Maybe it wasn’t a night of brilliance for everybody the Xscape ladies but the Lady of Soul winners looked very glam despite it all. While Kandie, Tameka, and Tiny offered up a bit of modern Dream Girls realism, Latosha looked like art in motion in a dress we’ve seen on the red carpet before.
At first glance, the Reginae Area amethyst moment is a lot to take in. The trimmed skin with her beautiful curly locks swallows her neck and shoulders, creating a sweltering look, but she imagines for a second the flirtatious youth of the look… without the coat.
Executives also provide the style. We love the way Connie modernized this Tom Ford look with silver sequins knotting up her shirt. A small diaphragm made a big style impact. Connie shined last night both literally and figuratively.
