2022 saw a lot of creative fashion collaborations, and we had a hard time narrowing down the list. From Balmain’s Barbie world to the coveted Dap Gap, this year’s innovative collaborations have been nothing short of a fashion bombshell.
Dive into this year’s shortlist of nominees before deciding which collection the FABY takes home.
Hearts broke after the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier announced his retirement in 2020. Who would best serve us in Breton stripes and have He and Naomi Campbell dressed as a blooming bouquet? Yet even in her retirement, Gaultier continues to bring those moments. For fall 2022, Y/Project teamed up with the house of Jean Paul Gaultier for a collection inspired by Gaultier’s trompe l’oeil designs of archival nude bodies. These designs graced Y/Project’s signature looks, from a celebrity-beloved gown to tailoring and denim.
After a SKIMS collaboration with Fendi and a full-look fashion tour by Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana’s Ciao Kim collection came as a bit of a surprise. However, his love for the brand dates back to his early days as a fashion icon, and his entire family dressed in D&G for Kourtney’s wedding to Travis Barker. This fashion hack inspired Dominico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to open up their archives and allow Kim to not only curate the collection, but also to star in the video used as the backdrop for the show.
From opening his Harlem atelier to joining the Gucci team, dapper Harlem hero Dap receives his flowers and we love to see him. Retail giant GAP teamed up with Dapper Dan to launch a line of hoodies that sold out in minutes. Such a successful collaboration that we got a Part II just in time for the holidays.

After a successful collaboration in 2020, Timberland and Jimmy Choo have teamed up again for an exclusive line that showcases their creative spirit living in harmony with style. The first collection was about bringing glam outdoors, but Timberland x Jimmy Choo Part II is all about the raw glam of New York City.
Who doesn’t want to be Barbie? That doll has it all! Even the latest from Balmain. Earlier this year, the house of Balmain released a limited-edition collection of Barbie-themed pieces. The capsule, told in the colorful story of various shades of pink Barbie, features badges, T-shirts, hoodies, dresses and pants inspired by Barbie and her world.
When it comes to collaborations, Supreme is the reigning king. From furniture to fashion, there’s hardly an avenue the New York giant hasn’t touched. So there was no surprise when Burberry x Supreme emerged. The collection featured a line of denim, Supreme’s signature box logo on T-shirts and Burberry check-covered shearling-collared puffer jackets alongside other street-inspired looks.
What happened when Donatella Versace and Kim Jones swapped roles? Fendace happened. Considered one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year, Fendi x Versace celebrated two iconic houses and their cultural impact. Reimagined bags, accessories, jumpers, dresses and tailoring feature the elegant Fendi monogram joined with the iconic Medusa motif and Versace chain mail.
Led by creative director Matthew M. Williams, Givenchy is committed to the contemporary street look. The capsule collaboration with BSTROY aligned with Williams’ vision for the brand and the future of fashion. Innovative materials, silhouettes and details produced sensory graphic designs for streetwear and contemporary casual pieces.

A collaboration that completely dominated social media, Jimmy Choo x Mugler was a clever fusion of fashion and footwear. Mugler’s iconic spiral and illusion jumpsuits inspired popular sock boot styles, while designs like the clear plexiglass sandal with a dazzling crystal ball spoke to fans of Jimmy Choo high jewelry.
