Declan Rice missed training due to illness as England prepares for Saturday’s World Cup quarterfinal against France.
The 23-year-old midfielder has started all four games for Gareth Southgate’s side in Qatar, but was absent from the session at the Al Wakrah Sports Complex.
Forward Callum Wilson also sat out while he recovers from a minor muscle strain.
There were 22 players involved in the session.
Ben White left last week due to a personal issue and Raheem Sterling returned to England ahead of the round of 16 win against Senegal due to a family matter.
Meanwhile, France and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate insists that Kylian Mbappe’s absence from training on Tuesday was not a cause for concern.
The 2022 World Cup top scorer missed a session after Sunday’s 3-1 win over Poland, which set up the quarter-final against England, but it is understood he will rejoin the team in a session away closed on wednesday.
While the Paris St Germain striker attracts worldwide media attention, his teammate Konate said it wasn’t even a problem for the team.
“We haven’t really talked about it at all. I was just resting yesterday,” she said at a press conference.
“It was a little recovery session, the day before we had a day off. I think he decided to stay inside with the coach, there is nothing to worry about ”.
Mbappe is likely to face Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker, with Konate adding: “Walker and Mbappe are two very good players. Walker is one of the best right-backs in the world, I can’t wait to see this battle”.
