‘Election’ Sequel in the Works from Reese Witherspoon, Alexander Payne

Tracy Flick returns to Hollywood.

Tracy flick can’t wina follow-up to the 1999 cult favorite Choiceis on the job with Reese Witherspoon set to reprise her role as Tracy Flick and Alexander Payne returning direct.

Payne, who wrote the original film, will write the film adaptation with Jim Taylor based on Tom Perrotta’s latest novel of the same name which was published in June of this year. The book finds the eponymous character, an A-type entrepreneur in high school, now a hardworking vice principal at a public high school in suburban New Jersey and still struggling to rise to the top.

Witherspoon will also produce the film with Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, along with Choice producers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa of Bona Fide Productions. Perrotta is executive producer.

The project is set up for Paramount streamer Paramount+.

Witherspoon, CAA, LBI and Hansen Jacobson will next be seen in the Netflix romantic comedy. your place or minewhile Hello Sunshine will launch Amazon Holiday Romance Something from Tiffany’s.

Payne is currently filming his next feature film, the remnantsthat reunites the director with his Oblique star Paul Giamatti. He is represented by CAA and Bloom Hergott.
