Fefe Dobson to Star in ‘Danzig’ Gang Shooting Drama (Exclusive)

Canadian singer-songwriter Fefe Dobson and Iñigo Pascual will star in Danzig (working title), an independent drama film inspired by a 2012 real-life gang shooting in downtown Toronto.

In the film, director Ron Dias and screenwriter Joanne Jansen team up to portray two people whose worlds collide on Danzig Street in Scarborough. Pascuel will play the role of Josh Yasay, based on a real person who was involved in the fatal shooting incident, while Dobson will play the fictional role of his love interest.

No additional casting news. Danzig It will take place in the middle of a turf war between rival gangs in Scarborough, where the characters of Nipsey and his brother Breeze do whatever it takes to keep other gangs out of their neighborhood.

Nipsey’s longtime girlfriend Shanice kicks him out of her house for cheating and later finds a blood-marked gun in his car, which he used for one of his crimes. The Danzig street gang shooting 10 years ago, where gunmen opened fire at a block party in a Scarborough housing complex, left two dead and 24 injured.

“We seek to tell this story while also encouraging the Scarborough community, reinvesting and supporting local businesses and vendors wherever possible. I may be the director, but I am telling the story with the community by my side,” Dias said in a statement as his cast and crew prepared to film in Scarborough.

Elevation Pictures will distribute the film in Canada. Dias and Jansen will also share production credits through Ron & Aussie Productions, while Noah Segal will serve as executive producer.

Dobson is a Juno Award winner and has television credits including The Listener, Degrassi: The Next Generation Y Hellcats. Pascual played the character of Ace Grayson in Monarch and also appeared in the crossing mini-series.
