Giants Insider insists team should make a splash

After missing out on Aaron Judge, the San Francisco Giants are shifting their focus to the shortstop market, according to Bob Nightengale.

The New York Yankees managed to keep their slugger and MVP, signing him to a nine-year, $360 million contract.

But that doesn’t mean the Giants are done looking for ways to increase their chances of contention in 2023.

Giants insider Susan Slusser appeared on MLB Network this afternoon and discussed potential next steps for the team.

While on the air, Slusser made a bold statement, saying that after missing out on AL MVP, the Giants need to make a splash and need to sign Carlos Correa.

Could the Giants sign Correa?

This is a bold statement, but Slusser is not wrong.

The Giants came into this offseason with every intention of signing the AL MVP.

In the end, it didn’t work.

But with several stars still available on the free agent market, the Giants still have a chance to make a splash.

Correa may be the best free agent left on the market with Judge now off the board.

President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi appears ready to spend money and add a few key pieces in hopes of returning the Giants to where they were in 2021, winners of 107 games and their first League West title. National since 2012.

San Francisco has already signed Mitch Haniger to a three-year contract, demonstrating their desire to improve the team in 2023.

Correa could be a perfect fit for San Francisco and may be exactly what the Giants need to get back into contention.
