‘Grade 3 Tear’ – Possible bad news for Chelsea star following recent injury

Dr. Rajpal Brar, a renowned doctor of physiotherapy, has shared his thoughts on Ben Chilwell’s injury, fearing the Chelsea man may not play again this year.

Left-back Chilwell suffered a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 2-1 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night (November 3). The player was substituted in injury time and was later photographed leaving Stamford Bridge on crutches (via BBC).

Looking at the way Chilwell pulled up, Brar claimed the player could have a grade 3 tear and could miss eight to 12 weeks of football. The physio wrote in Twitter:

“Ben Chilwell’s diagnosis is yet to be determined, but there is a potential fear of a grade 3 tear. That was my initial thought seeing how his gait was so affected, weightless and on crutches coming out of the match. If so, that’s usually 8 to 12 weeks, depending on whether surgery is needed.”

It is feared that the Englishman may have torn his hamstring rather than a regular strain, which is considerably more serious (via absolute chelsea). A concrete evaluation could come after your scans are complete.

Unless he makes a miraculous recovery, the talented left-back will miss out on playing for England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Three Lions play their first World Cup match against Iran on November 21.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter admits Ben Chilwell injury doesn’t look ‘positive’

Victory over Zagreb in their final Group E match sealed top spot for Chelsea (13 points), three points clear of second-placed Milan. However, Chilwell’s injury in death prevented them from enjoying their victory.

Former Liverpool FC chief physiotherapist Mark Leather says it will be a ‘difficult’ 24 hours for Ben Chilwell and the club as they wait to be told the extent of his hamstring injury 👇

After the match, Potter admitted that the England international’s injury looked bad and revealed that everyone in camp was disappointed. He said (via the BBC):

“It doesn’t look positive. I think it’s a blow for us on a positive night. It’s a shock to see it stop like that, not a great sight.

“So we’ll keep our fingers crossed when we get the scan, it’s not bad, it may not be serious, but we have to cross our fingers right now. But clearly, we’re disappointed.”
