‘Harry & Meghan’ Shares Rare New Photos Of Archie And The First Clip Of Him Speaking With An American Accent

“We’ve been very conscious of protecting our children to the best of our ability and also understanding the role they play in this truly storied family,” Meghan said at the start of the series.

Meghan and Harry touched on their own experiences as children of the divorce in the second episode, while Harry touched on his pride in having mixed-race children and how important it was for him to speak out against the racist coverage and treatment of his then-girlfriend Meghan by part of the British tabloids.

Meghan is half black and said on the series that she never noticed any different treatment until she was in the UK, publicly dating Harry. “It’s very different to be a minority but not to be treated like a minority from the start,” she said. “Obviously now, people are very aware of my career because they made an issue of it when I went to the UK. But before that, most people didn’t treat me like a black woman.”

Harry said of his children and the importance of standing up for his wife against racist treatment: “My son, my daughter, my children are mixed race and I’m very proud of that. When my kids grow up and look back at this moment and turn to me and say, ‘What did you do at this moment?’ I want to be able to give them an answer.”

He and Meghan, whose parents separated when they were children, also wanted to give them a better view of marriage than they had.

“The most important thing for both of us is to make sure we don’t repeat the same mistakes that our parents maybe made,” Harry said.

“I think there’s a lot from anyone’s childhood that you bring with you to the present,” Meghan added, reflecting on her own experience. “Especially when you’re the product of divorce.”

In general, Harry said at the beginning of the series that Lili and Archie might see her one day, that this is his and Meghan’s story together. “This is a great love story. The craziest thing is that I think this love story is just beginning,” he added. “You know, she sacrificed everything she ever knew, the freedom she had, to join me in my world. And then shortly after that, I ended up sacrificing everything I know to join her in her world of hers.”
