ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Points Table after Pakistan vs Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe cricket team won a thriller against Pakistan where they won the match by 1 run. Zimbabwe showed great character and fighting spirit as defending 131 runs is never easy. Due to this victory, Zimbabwe now have 3 points to their name, while Pakistan have now lost two games in a row.

Zimbabwe had won the toss and chose to bat first. The team had gotten off a wheel as they scored 47 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Pakistan in the middle phase of overs trailed Zimbabwe and cut them from 95-3 to 95-7 in a span of 6 balls, 13.4 overs to 14.4 overs. Zimbabwe somehow managed to score 130 runs under par for the loss of 8 wickets.

Zimbabwean bowlers pull off a heist

The Zimbabwean fast bowlers bowled immaculate lines and lengths and earned two major breakthroughs from Babar and Rizwan. Pakistan managed to score only 28 runs in power-play overs where Pakistan batsmen were facing a difficult time in the middle.

Shan Masood and Shadab Khan attempted to resurrect the innings and engaged in a 52-run partnership. The duo focused on rotating the strike. Shan was making sure to have a weird limit.

Sikandar Raza changed the facets of the match as in minute 14, he took crucial wickets from Shadab Khan and Haider Ali. The spin was quite unpredictable and later on in the 16th he outplayed the menacing Shan Masood. Roulette had remarkable figures of 3 of 25 in 4 overs.

Mohammad Nawaz, the handsome left-handed batsman, was expected to lead the team to the finish line. The pinch hitter was fired when the team required 3 runs from 2 balls where Brad Evans got rid of him. On the last ball, Shaheen Afridi was on the strike and managed to score one after running off as he took the second run.

Zimbabwe would be over the moon as they are now in 3rd position with an NRR of +0.050. Pakistan, on the other hand, would be in shock as they are now on the brink of being knocked out of the tournament. Pakistan’s NRR is -0.050.
