Immersive new features give the Moss franchise a new look on PlayStation VR2

Earlier this year, we welcomed players into the world of Moss with the release of Moss: Book II. Winner of the VR Awards “VR Game of the Year” and nominated for Game Awards “Best VR/AR Game,” the award-winning sequel adds to the fan-favorite franchise by picking up right where the story of Moss stayed almost four years ago. . Today, we’re excited to announce that both Moss and Moss: Book II represent two top-tier titles for PlayStation VR2 launch day upon release in February 2023. We have a lot to share with you about the enhanced versions of the games, but We’ll keep the lore details to ourselves so we don’t spoil it for anyone.

Much like when Moss launched on PS VR in 2018, Moss: Book II was met with positive reception, quickly rising through the ranks to sit alongside Moss as one of the highest-rated VR games of all time. And while the story continues in the same world, the overall look and feel of Moss: Book II is dramatically improved over its predecessor. This was to be expected as we continued to learn and take advantage of evolving technology throughout development to help us optimize gameplay for players to experience later.

Now, once we got our hands on the PS VR2 hardware, we experimented and discovered new ways to draw players deeper into the world of Moss as they take on the first-person role of the Lector, the hero Quill’s key ally. Fortunately, the platform’s two-controller setup, improved haptic feedback, visual enhancements, and eye-tracking capabilities minimized the limitations that previous hardware placed on our team. And as we said before when bringing our games to new platforms, we don’t just want to get them up and running on PS VR2 and call it a day, we spend our time on all aspects of the game, through graphics and gameplay, with the ultimate goal of being a truly unique and memorable experience.

Here are a few ways we’re leveraging PS VR2 hardware to enhance players’ overall first-person immersion within the Moss franchise:

• improved haptics: Players can now feel the effects of world-shaking events, damaging attacks, and movement throughout the world. the Haptic feedback from the PS VR2 Sense controllers and vibration from the headset give the player a greater sense of presence and danger in the game, allowing them to feel even closer to Quill, the game’s plucky young hero with whom the players associate during the adventure.
