Former India national cricket team pacer Ajit Agarkar has stated that India has been unable to find a replacement for chief pacer Jasprit Bumrah despite much experimentation.
India greatly missed the services of Jasprit Bumrah at the 2022 Asian Cup and the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In particular, the star right-arm pacer missed two prominent tournaments due to a back injury.

During a discussion on Sony Sports, former India national cricket team pacer Ajit Agarkar said:
“There is an example, Jasprit Bumrah came out, he is your pillar, you get him when the big matches come. Despite so much turnover and so many changes, you don’t know who will replace him.

“If that doesn’t happen, there is a problem because injuries to your main players can also happen. So if you’re saying you want to rotate and test or rest players, the next one that should be ready won’t happen because they’re all playing two or three games each.”
Talking about India’s back-to-back losses against Bangladesh, Agarkar said that there is disappointment among the fans that India is not a bad team. He said:
“There are quite a few players who have played a single game. After one match, you can’t get to know who can do well in the long term at international level. It’s not a bad team, so you get a little disappointed. The way they’ve played, when both games were in your hand, good teams usually finish games.”

Agarkar further said that India were in winning positions in the first two ODIs against Bangladesh and they just let Bangladesh stage comebacks. He said:
“I agree that the opposing team has also come to play and there will be a fight at some point, it won’t be that easy, but both matches of this series were in the hands of India and both times they allowed Bangladesh to stage a comeback. They will be disappointed with that.”
Ajit Agarkar added that India should not make too many changes to the playing XI and using too many players is not beneficial at all. He said:
“That is why you need stability in the team selections or in the squad. You shouldn’t make too many changes, it’s okay if you make changes due to injury or lack of form, but at the moment you don’t need to use too many players because players also need to get into rhythm, whether it’s 50-over cricket or T20.”
