During the same interaction, Wasim Jaffer said that Rahul handled the responsibility of the captaincy very well in the first Test against Bangladesh and got most things right. However, the 44-year-old was disappointed with Rahul’s batting performance and opined that he needs to improve his game. Wasim Yaffer said:

“As captain, he will be very happy. He was not very successful as a captain. Even though he went to Bangladesh, he did most of the things well, but I feel that as a batsman, he needs to do a lot of things well. From the way he’s hitting, I feel like he needs to pick up his game a little bit. Lately, he is not the old KL Rahul that we have seen. He needs to show up as a hitter very soon.”

The India National Cricket Team defeated the Bangladesh National Cricket Team by 188 runs in the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram to take a 1–0 series lead. The second test will be played from December 22 to 26 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
