Bowling and batting to death is very difficult. –Rohit Sharma
During the post-match presentation ceremony, the match-winning captain, Rohit Sharma, spoke about his batting approach, saying:
“It’s something that we all got together and said it was what we wanted to do as a team. It may not be noticeable at times, but we want to stick with it.”
Rohit Sharma further said that different people in the team have performed well on different occasions, which is a good sign for the team. He also admitted that Team India’s bowlers have not been performing well of late. Rohit Sharma elaborated:
“What I have seen in the last 8 to 10 months are people raising their hands and doing the work for the team. Guys without much experience also did this.
“The team wants to play and bowl a certain way and we want to give them that confidence. Yes, we haven’t shot well to death in the last five or six games. We are doing the same with the opposition as well. Bowling and batting to death is very difficult. That is where the game is decided. It is not worrying, but we have to choose ourselves and act together.”
India captain Rohit Sharma further said that he is thinking of not playing Suryakumar Yadav until October 23 to keep him happy. Notably, the Indian National Cricket Team will face their arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. He said:
“I’m thinking of not playing Surya anymore and playing him straight on the 23rd. That’s his game and we just want to keep him happy. (laughs)“
