After switching starting quarterbacks once again this season, New York Jets coach Robert Saleh was seen at a press conference this morning discussing the move.
Although it seemed like Saleh was trying to inspire confidence in newly named starter Zach Wilson, the comments below aren’t exactly the vote of confidence Jets fans are looking for.
Robert Saleh on Zach Wilson: “He’s the same quarterback who once went 18-for-18 in a bowl game.”

The game Saleh is referring to is the famous 2018 Idaho Potato Bowl.
To Wilson’s credit, he had the game of his life.
While going 18-18, Wilson threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns.
It has been said to be the best bowling game in BYU history.
And that is probably true.
Incredible stats in a pointless collegiate bowl game don’t count in the NFL, unfortunately for Wilson.
What happened to Wilson?
After the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jets were excited.
They had just drafted their quarterback of the future and spent their first-round seed money to acquire him (Wilson was taken second overall, behind Trevor Lawrence).
With Wilson holding the reins during his rookie season, the Jets finished the season with a 4-13 record, which was the worst record in the AFC East.
Unfortunately for Wilson and the Jets, he was never able to recapture the magic he displayed in college.
Many Jets fans pined for Wilson’s Potato Bowl version, but ended up with something reminiscent of a toilet bowl.
Wilson will have another chance to redeem himself on Sunday.
