An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck eastern Papua New Guinea on Sunday, triggering a tsunami warning from the US Geological Survey.
The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at a depth of 61 km (38 miles), about 67 km from the town of Kainanto, warning of a possible tsunami waves 1,000 km from the epicenter.
