Michael Yardy appointed England Under-19 head coach following Richard Dawson’s departure

Former England National Cricket Team all-rounder Michael Yardy, 41, who was part of the 15-man squad at the 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, has been appointed as the new head coach of the Men’s Cricket Team. England Under-19. Equipment.

Yardy played international cricket for the Three Lions between 2006 and 2011. He represented England in 28 ODIs and scored 326 runs while collecting 21 wickets. Additionally, he played 14 T20Is and scored 96 runs while collecting 11 wickets.

Michael Yardy, whose England career effectively ended when he flew home with clinical depression three days before the 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup quarter-final, was part of England’s 2010 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup winning squad.

Yardy joined the England Under-19s from Sussex CCC, where he held the position of Academy Director. He had previously been in coaching capacity with New South Wales and Kent CCC. Michael Yardy will replace Richard Dawson, who joined Matthew Mott’s England white-ball coaching team.

Yardy, speaking about his appointment, said he is excited to take on the role of head coach of the England Under-19 team.

“I am very excited to take on the role of Young Lions head coach. It is a privilege to work with young players looking to take the next step in their career and I look forward to the challenge of doing so at an international level,” Yardy was quoted as saying by the ECB.

“The Young Lions program has helped develop a number of very talented players over the past few years and it is an exciting prospect to be part of that work and help identify and develop future England cricketers.”

Player Identification and Talent Path Lead David Court, speaking about Yardy’s appointment, said:

“We are delighted to have Mike join us as our Young Lions head coach and he brings with him a fantastic range of relevant experience.

“The Young Lions program aims to inspire and develop players through unique and challenging experiences, and Mike’s time in domestic cricket, international cricket and, more recently, time spent leading the development of young players talented cricketers in Sussex will be a great asset to us.

“I would like to thank Sussex for their support during this hiring process and wish Mike all the best in his new role.”
