Yesterday, it was announced that former Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks running back Franco Harris had passed away suddenly.
Harris was a four-time Super Bowl champion, Rookie of the Year in 1972, and Super Bowl MVP.
Current Steelers coach Mike Tomlin shared some sentiments about Harris yesterday.

In these comments, Tomlin addresses the man Harris was, rather than his game on the field.
Tomlin could have talked about the incredible game Harris played throughout his career, but since they were on a personal level, he used this time to talk about Harris’ involvement in the community and the person he was off the field.
Harris was known for her efforts off the field, such as creating a nutrition program for elementary schools, being an ambassador for the 1982 World’s Fair, and co-owner of the Pittsburgh Passion, a women’s soccer team.
Harris’ heroism on the field
Although Harris was a four-time Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP and Rookie of the Year, he has a play that will go down forever in NFL history.
The Immaculate Reception.
On the way to one of his four Super Bowls, Franco was playing in an AFC divisional game against the Oakland Raiders.
The Steelers trailed 6-0 and desperately needed to score.
On fourth down, quarterback Terry Bradshaw threw a pass downfield that was deflected and landed right in the hands of Harris.
He ended up scoring a touchdown on this play, which has often been called the greatest play in NFL history.
This work will live on for years to come as part of Harris’ incredible legacy.
Thank you Franco Harris.
