Furthermore, it is already quite evident that the batman is placing a lot more emphasis on Farrell’s Penguin, both because of his role in the movie and because of future plans for the franchise. Why Batman Needs The Penguin More (Right Now) Than The Joker

As Batman’s archenemy, the Joker has been a constant presence in the Dark Knight theatrical films, appearing in six films alongside Batman since 1966. batman: the movie. The Penguin, by contrast, has only been to three, including the batman, and Reeves going more in his direction is effectively an admission of the Joker problem that Batman movies tend to run into. Specifically, how easy it is for Joker as Batman’s defining villain to slide into the spotlight as soon as he shows up. The Penguin, on the other hand, doesn’t tend to have the same effect.

With The Riddler, Carmine Falcone and The Penguin as the villains of the batman (along with an anti-heroine role for Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman), Reeves is clearly aware that a little Joker goes a long way with Keoghan’s brief cameo in the film. Obviously, that doesn’t rule out the Joker’s eventual arrival in a more significant capacity, but it does show that Reeves doesn’t want him to be overshadowed. the batman franchise, even without realizing it. There’s also a need to differentiate Keoghan’s version of the Joker from previous portrayals of the character, and that’s something Keoghan and Reeves seem to want to take their time with.

Also, the increased use of the Penguin fixes a Batman villain problem. With the emphasis on detective work and organized crime that Reeves has established since the beginning ofthe batman, the place in Gotham’s criminal underbelly makes him an easily usable antagonist. The Joker is a stand-in villain for Batman thanks to his unpredictability, even when he teams up with other criminals. Any plot he hatches inevitably sends even Gotham’s underworld into a frenzy, as he does in The dark knight. With Reeves setting a detective crime drama tone for the batman universe, favoring an active crime boss like Penguin is a really useful tool in that approach.

While the Joker has been shown as the leader of a criminal gang on occasion, he has rarely been the type of mobster villain in the batman who embody Falcone and the Penguin. Although Reeves is devoting more attention to the Penguin as the batman universe begins to unfold, Barry Keoghan’s Joker tease in the batman suggests that he will eventually take on Pattinson’s Dark Knight. Yet, the batman The franchise is allowing less frequently used Batman villains to challenge the Caped Crusader in the noir-style story Reeves has crafted. The penguin is a very welcome addition to the fold in that regard.
