After not converging for nearly a year, Pakistan and India are facing each other at a cricket ground for the second time in a week.
Last Sunday, India overtook Pakistan, their eighth win for the first against these rivals in 10 international matches in T20.
This Sunday, the two teams will meet again at the same venue, this time in the Super 4 of the 2022 AFC Asian Cup which is being held in the UAE.
India enters the decisive match with a perfect record in the Asian Cup so far.
After defeating Pakistan, India outperformed Hong Kong by forty points.
Pakistan, despite losing to India, will be full of confidence after hitting Hong Kong with 155 strikes in their last group match.
Next Sunday, Pakistan will miss out on suspected collateral strain, Shahnawaz Dahani.
Al-Dahani is the third Pakistani national team to be forced out due to injury after Shaheen Shah Afridi and Muhammad Waseem left the team ahead of the six-nation tournament.
The team said that Al-Dahani’s injury “occurred during a bowling game in the Hong Kong match in Sharjah on Friday.”
For India, superstar Ravindra Jadeja has already been ruled out of the tournament due to a right knee injury.
Indian bowling is not as “glamorous” as Pakistan
On Saturday, India coach Rahul Dravid said he is still confident in the bowlers even though they are not as “glamorous” as their Pakistani counterparts.
“They are a good bowling team, but we threw the ball well to be limited to 147 [in the first match]Dravid said when asked if Pakistan had a better bowling lineup.
“[At the] End of the day, bowling analysis is the most important thing. You are judged by the results you produce. I respect their bowling game but I am very confident that we have a good bowling attack that produces results.
“[Our bowling] It might not look very charming but in terms of results we’ve got some players who have achieved results.”
“Courageous and calm,” says Radwan.
Pakistan aims for revenge and Pakistan’s Mohammed Rizwan said his team was striving to remain “courageous and calm” in Sunday’s game.
I tell the players, whether you’re playing in India or Hong Kong, it’s a game of racket and ball.
“Playing in India is always a game of pressure. The whole world, even outside Asia, is waiting for it,” said Rizwan, who scored 78 unbeaten goals against Hong Kong.
“The pressure will be equally on India and on us, but the result will be with whoever stays brave and keeps his cool. I tell the players, whether you play in India or Hong Kong, it’s a game of racket and ball.
“So keep it simple. Yes, it is a great match and our confidence is high but only hard work is in our hands, because the result is from God.”
