‘Captain Brave’ Rohit Sharma did the unthinkable when batting with an injured thumb in the second ODI of India’s 2022 tour of Bangladesh and delivered an absolutely outstanding strike.
The second ODI of the three match series between India led by Rohit Sharma and Bangladesh led by Litton Das was played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday 7th December.

In the second over of the first innings, Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury while fielding at the slip cord and left the field in pain for treatment. KL Rahul, the designated vice-captain, took over the responsibility of the captaincy in Rohit’s absence.
Notably, the 35-year-old was fielding on the second slip when right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj pulled an outside lead from Bangladesh opener Anamul Haque. The ball went towards Rohit Sharma but he was unable to hold on as the ball sank into him, even though he had both hands and in the process ended up injuring his thumb.

In addition, he was evaluated by the Cricket Board of Control Team (BCCI) medical team and was sent for scans.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma came out to bat with an injured thumb following Shardul Thakur’s ejection in the 43rd during the run.
Rohit Sharma played a spectacular 51* run stroke at a scintillating strike rate of 182.14. His innings consisted of 3 fours and 5 sixes. However, his valiant effort was in vain as India lost the match by 5 runs.
Speaking at the post-match unveiling ceremony, Rohit Sharma revealed that he luckily did not break his thumb.
