Rian Johnson resurrects TV procedural detective

among the new knives out continuation glass onion and the next series Poker facedirector Rian Johnson bets on the genre of procedural detectives. Poker facestarring Natasha Lyonne (Russian doll) and the parade of A-list guest stars like Adrian Brody, Ron Perlman and Tim Blake Nelson, got their first trailer on Wednesday. It already looks delicious. The series will debut on Peacock on January 26.

Poker face follows Lyonne as Charlie, a detective with “an uncanny ability to determine when someone is lying.” Armed with that amazing talent, Charlie hits the road to solve crimes, giving the show the perfect excuse for its classic TV-style mystery-a-week format. Along the way, he meets celebrity guests who could be victims, suspects, or something in between.

Johnson created, wrote and directed the series, with Lyonne on board as executive producer and star of the series. Poker face is scheduled for a 10-episode run, with the first four installments premiering on January 26 when the series launches, with the rest airing on Thursdays.
