Saints were hit with serious fines for a one-off incident

The New Orleans Saints are having a disaster season.

They have yet to figure out their quarterback situation, despite playing in a very winnable division.

New Orleans suffered a terrible loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Monday that almost ended all hope of a run.

To make matters worse, the Saints were fined a large sum of money for faking an injury on Cam Jordan’s part.

In total, the Saints were fined $550,000 for the incident.

The NFL handed out $550,000 in fines to the Saints for allegedly faking an injury to Cam Jordan.

This is a dangerous path the NFL is heading down if they are going to start fining players and teams for injuries.

Now they will need to review each injury to make sure they are serious or not.

In a sport with a 100% injury rate, it will be interesting to see how they monitor that progress.

In addition, the Saints issued a statement saying that Jordan was indeed injured.

He even had a foot MRI the next day which confirmed a midfoot sprain.

So how will the NFL respond to that?

Whether or not Jordan suffered the injury on the play in question is still a bad image for the NFL.

But, this has not been the only time that a player has been fined for faking an injury.

Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates was fined $50,000 for the same thing last week.

This issue will be something the NFL will have to look into in the offseason.

But, for the rest of this season, it appears the NFL is content to fine teams and players who may be feigning injuries.
