Shivnarine Chanderpaul to step down as USA head coach after U-19 World Cup

USA Cricket is set to participate in the upcoming Women’s U-19 and Women’s T20 World Cup, which would be their first appearance in the ICC tournament. The US Women’s Cricket Team may prove to be the surprise package at the tournament.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul to resign

Head Coach Shivnarine Chanderpaul decided to part ways with USA Cricket after the conclusion of the U-19 Women’s World Cup T20 2023 and T20 World Cup 2023. USA Cricket Hall of Famer and multi-disciplinary coach Jatin Patel made interesting comments about Chanderpaul.“We already have a dozen renowned coaches disconnected from the national teams since the new directive was installed and I doubt that Shivnarine will renew his contract after the U-19 World Cup in South Africa.” Jatin Patel said.

“I had a word with Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s manager, Jerin Chako, to clarify and Chacko has confirmed that he will not consider extending or renewing Chanderpaul’s contract after the U-19 Women’s World Cup in South Africa.” added.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul an asset

The left-handed batsman was recently inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame as well as the USA Cricket Hall of Fame. In July 2022, he led the USA women’s under-19 cricket team. to the title in the Caribbean, where they defeated defending champion Trinidad and Tobago.

Chanderpaul was also the head coach of the Jamaica Tallawahs and led them to the 2022 CPL title. Chanderpaul has now started making headlines in the training setup. It would be interesting to see if Chanderpaul coaches a West Indies national cricket team, as we all know Phil Simmons has resigned from the role.
