The Sri Lankan cricket team won the Asia Cup 2022 against all odds and won their sixth Asia Cup title. The official hosts of the tournament were given a big blow by the Afghanistan cricket team in the opening match of the tournament. Legendary batsman Mahila Jayawardene was quite impressed with the team’s performance.

The island nation will be over the moon as they convincingly beat Green in Man in the final. Sri Lanka Cricket made a strong statement that they are no longer underdogs and are a force to be reckoned with.

Pakistan will be disappointed as they missed out on a golden opportunity to win their third Asia Cup title. Chasing 171 is not a difficult task and losing the match by 23 runs is unacceptable at the Dubai International Stadium as in Dubai, a team batting first rarely wins a match.

Babar Azam is having a tough time as the batsman is finding new ways to get out which has now started to hurt the team. Babar needs to reinvent himself as there is hardly any time before the T20 World Cup 2022.

Sri Lankan cricket team did an incredible feat as defeating Pakistan cricket team is never an easy task. Former Sri Lanka captain Mahila Jayawardene praised the team. “Good toss to lose boys!! Showed character and passion to play for the country and everyone is proud of the victory as the whole country will be.. Great team effort #AsiaCup2022.Jayawardene tweeted.

Steep road ahead for Sri Lanka cricket team

Even after winning the Asia Cup 2022, the island nation has a tough task at hand. They are going to play T20 World Cup Qualifier in Australia. They will be under the pump once again as all the fellow countries will be well prepared to face any challenge.

Head coach Chris Silverwood will know that the team still has flaws. The batsman’s all-out attack approach almost made a mess of the final. It will be interesting to see if the team shows fearlessness in Australia where the pitches will be bouncy and the boundaries will be long.

Sri Lanka are looking dangerous in the current form and the fans will be hoping that they continue the good work.
