David Harbour, known for his role as the affable police chief Jim Hopper in Strange things and the monster-killing curmudgeon in the 2019 remake of Hellboy, has finally found the next big role: a no-nonsense, name-taking version of Santa Claus.
In the first trailer for violent nightChristmas black comedy action film Hansel Director Tommy Wirkola, a team of mercenaries break into a wealthy family’s compound on Christmas Eve, hoping to make off with $300 million. Unfortunately for them, they’ll first have to go through Harbor’s Saint Nick, who surprisingly is a lot less cheerful and a lot more homicidal than most people would expect.
The movie is essentially die hard, except John McClane has magical powers related to global toy delivery rather than the ability to navigate air ducts and crawl through broken glass. It certainly follows in the time-tested tradition of action thrillers pitting everyone seemingly benign against one another in high-stakes, death-defying scenarios, only this time it’s, you know, the living embodiment of merriment and holiday cheer.
