Suryakumar Yadav fined for Mumbai Indians’ slow overcharge against KKR; Nitish Rana fined for breaching the Code of Conduct

Mumbai Indians captain Suryakumar Yadav was fined for keeping a slow pace during his team’s Indian Premier League 2023 match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, April 16.

“As it was his team’s first offense of the season as per the IPL Code of Conduct in relation to minimum surcharge offences, Mr. Suryakumar Yadav was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” read a statement from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Suryakumar led the team during the absence of Rohit Sharma, who did not play due to a stomach virus. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana was fined 25% of the match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct.

He was seen arguing with Mumbai Indians spinner Hrithik Shokeen after the latter sacked the KKR captain for 5 runs on 10 balls. Shokeen gave the batsman a farewell, causing the Knight Riders captain to lose his cool.

The 22-year-old was fined 10% of the match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
