The Dodgers continue to build a strong analytics department

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the top organization in the MLB along with the Houston Astros.

They have come to understand that half the battle is won in the office, not necessarily in the field.

What does this mean?

It means that putting the right people in the right positions at the office level will ensure that the organization has a good number of alternatives ready to play at a similar level to the player they are replacing.

The Dodgers understand the importance of depth.

The 2022 New York Yankees are a perfect example.

With all their weapons, they were the best team in MLB in the first half.

Once the injuries started showing up, their depth wasn’t particularly good and they couldn’t field quality replacements for the most part.

The Dodgers want to make sure their analytics department continually offers solutions.

That is why they are looking to hire more people.

The Dodgers are looking for more specialists

According to FanGraphs, they are looking for a junior analyst to join the organization.

This person will, among other things, develop and deliver reports to the coaching staff and baseball operations leadership group, help create new tools and improve existing ones, leverage statistical tools and metrics to analyze the Dodgers and upcoming opponents, and other important things.

People like these, who do the quiet work day in and day out, are the ones who tell the Dodgers which players to sign, which players to avoid and how to improve existing ones.

That’s vital, and it’s what makes great organizations.

The Dodgers just won 111 games in the regular season, but since they were eliminated from the playoffs so early, they are redoubling their efforts.

They have an incredible drive to win and they show it every day.
