On Thursday, the Brooklyn Nets announced that Kyrie Irving would be suspended for at least five games due to his recent actions and the promotion of an anti-Semitic movie on his social media accounts.
This was just the latest blow against Irving, and the latest headache he has caused his team.
Since joining the Nets a few seasons ago, Irving hasn’t been the reliable All-Star the team wanted.
Due to personal time off, his COVID vaccine status, and this latest controversy, Irving hasn’t been around much.

In fact, when you look at his time in Brooklyn, he’s played in 111 games and missed 128.
The investment in Irving was big: He was supposed to change the team forever.
Instead, it has caused numerous negative headlines, conflict within the team, and a lack of championship rings.
After this latest fiasco, there are plenty of people wondering if the player and team will go their separate ways because Irving’s experiment doesn’t seem to be working in Brooklyn.

Irving is still a wonderful basketball player, there is no doubt about that.
This season alone, he is putting up 26.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
And his career average is 23.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists.
Irving is a former Rookie of the Year, seven-time All-Star, All-Star MVP, and NBA champion.
There is no doubt that he is a great NBA star.
But he costs the Nets more than he’s worth and there will come a time when the team’s front office decides they’re not willing to put up with all the drama and busts caused by him.
In fact, they may have already reached that point.
