The Warriors clearly need Steph Curry

The Golden State Warriors were heartbroken Wednesday night when they were soundly defeated by the Utah Jazz.

They had a chance to drive the Jazz away and were up by a point with just 6 seconds to go.

But in one of the cruelest and most shocking conclusions to the game in years, the Warriors ended up losing.

It was another disappointing loss, another failure on the road, and yet another proof of Stephen Curry’s importance.

Over the past four seasons, the Warriors’ record under Curry is 112-65, representing a 63% winning percentage.

And the Warriors’ record without Curry during that same time is 24-66, a 26% winning percentage.

So far in 2022-23, the team hasn’t won a single game without Curry.

Those numbers say it all: Curry is easily the most valuable player for the team and they struggle when he’s not dressed.

Curry is sweeping everyone so far in 2022-23.

He is averaging 30 points, 6.6 rebounds and 7 assists on 49.9% from the field and 43.2% from beyond the three-point line.

He hasn’t been putting up numbers like this in years, even during his breakout season last year that led to his first Finals MVP trophy.

Certainly there are great players signed with the Warriors and they often show up and play well as well.

Still, it’s not enough and the Warriors are struggling to move past 10th in the West.

The good news is that Curry has stayed mostly healthy this season and there’s plenty of time to turn things around.

They would not be the first team that started the season badly, they plucked up their courage and was able to compete.
