In the sixth over of the match, Haris Rauf bowled a brilliant yorker to Bhanuka Rajapaksa and the Pakistani players strongly appealed for lbw, but the umpire declared it not out. Pakistan captain Babar Azam went for DRS and the third umpire also declared the batsman not out, but Shadab Khan was eager for the wicket, so he forcibly grabbed the umpire’s hand.

Shadab Khan, who has been the match winner for Pakistan so far in this tournament, could not do anything special in the final match. In bowling he gave 28 runs in four overs and got only 1 wicket while in batting he could give only 8 runs.

The all-rounder also faced difficulties in fielding. He dropped 2 catches at crucial moments due to which Pakistan had to suffer. In the end, the Pakistani team had to face defeat by Sri Lanka by 23 runs.

Chasing 171 runs for victory, Pakistan lost two early wickets in the form of captain Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman. Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed put the innings back on track with a crucial partnership. After the partnership was broken, the Sri Lankan bowlers dominated the Pakistani batsmen. Pramod Madhushan tore up Pakistan’s batting order with figures of 4/34. Venindu Hasringa took three wickets and completed his spell 3/27.
