“He wants to prove himself”

Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida believes that Mikey Musumeci will show his underrated best game against Osamah Almarwai at ONE Fight Night 10.

On May 5, in the promotion’s highly anticipated US debut at the 1stBank Center in Colorado, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ will look to make a successful second world title defense of his ONE flyweight grappling crown.

‘Buchecha’, considered one of the greatest Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners of all time, is a big fan of Musumeci’s intricate yet extremely entertaining style.

Musumeci, of course, is perhaps best known for his dangerous attacking guard, which he used in his world title-winning performance against Cleber Sousa.

‘Buchecha’, however, believes the New Jersey native will be the aggressor against fellow BJJ black belt Osamah Almarwai. He told ONE Championship:

“To be honest, his passing game is really good. He has very good passing techniques. We don’t see him at the top a lot, but once he’s at the top, we’ll surely see a lot of pressure and I think because of that, he wants to prove himself, so we’ll see a lot of top. safe game.”

Those who have watched Musumeci during his stellar BJJ career know that he is a crafty fighter who can land submissions from anywhere. We’ve seen glimpses of his best brilliant play inside the circle, particularly in his promo debut against the legendary Masakazu Imanari.

‘Darth Rigatoni’ applied crushing pressure to get past the Japanese icon’s guard and take his back. From there, he heralded his entry into the Singapore-based promotion with a sensational rear-naked choke finish.
