Who won yesterday’s match in IPL 2023?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs in yesterday’s 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Sent off to bat after losing the toss, Chennai posted 226/6 on the board as Devon Conway (83 for 45) and Shivam Dube (52 for 27) scored an impressive half-century. In the chase, Glenn Maxwell (76 for 36) and Faf du Plessis (62 for 33) were tough bowlers for CSK. However, RCB came up short, finishing at 218/8.

Chasing 227, RCB was rocked early when Virat Kohli (6) was uncharacteristically bowled off Akash Singh’s bowling. The starter tried to hit the closer’s left arm, but the ball hit his boot. From there, the ball rolled into the stumps and dislodged the bail.

Maheesh Theekshana dropped a Mahipal Lomror skier in the middle of the same over. The Bangalore batsman, however, was unable to open the account of him, beating Tushar Deshpande cut to cover the point. Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell then hit a flurry of fours and sixes as RCB reached 75/2 late on the power play.

Du Plessis ran to 50 in just 23 balls, while Maxwell got there in 24 balls hitting Matheesha Pathirana for four in a row. In the same over, the tenth of the innings, he too bowled the pacer for a six over square leg back from 94 metres.

The RCB captain got a breather in the next over when Theekshana dropped another catch, this time in his own bowling game. At the other end, Maxwell hit two more sixes before losing to Theekshana with a high shot. MS Dhoni took a very well calculated catch.

Moeen Ali was hit by two highs on the 14th, but the deflector got his revenge when Du Plessis overcame a slog-sweep, with Dhoni holding onto another skier.

The wicket effectively sealed the match in Chennai’s favor despite Dinesh Karthik (28 for 14) playing an impressive cameo appearance.

Conway, Dube star in CSK post 226/6

Conway and Dube played big shots as Chennai put up a healthy 226/6 on the board. Sent out to bat after losing the toss, CSK lost Ruturaj Gaikwad (3) to Mohammed Siraj as the batsman bowled a pitch on the bases, only for Wayne Parnell to make an excellent catch, sliding to his left on long leg.

Conway and Ajinkya Rahane (37 for 20) added 74 runs for the second wicket. The latter faced Parnell in the latter part of the power play and crushed him for two fours and a six. At the other end, Conway also hit some impressive highs. The good stand ended when Rahane wiped off a googly from Wanindu Hasaranga.

Dube came up and bowled Maxwell for a huge six. Conway then attacked Vyshak Vijaykumar and hit him with two fours and a six in the 12th to run at 70. The duo also chased Vyshak in their next over, which went for 19. The 80-run position ended when Harshal Patel cleaned up to Conway with a submerged yorker.

Dube reached 25 ball fifty by crushing Parnell for a six on the ground. The impressive innings from him ended in the same over when he was caught in the deep midwicket of the left-arm pacer. Ambati Rayudu (14 of 6) and Moeen Ali (19* of 9) played useful cameos for CSK even as Ravindra Jadeja (10 of 8) struggled to get going.
