Despite rumors suggesting a delay for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has assured fans that the game is still on track for a 2025 release. As one of the most anticipated video game launches of all time, details about GTA 6 have been scarce, but recent financial reports confirm its release is scheduled for fall 2025, between September and November.
Speculation about a potential delay to 2026 had been circulating after Take-Two’s cryptic comments in previous reports. However, the company’s latest update puts these rumors to rest. CEO Strauss Zelnick, in a conversation with Variety, remained tight-lipped about whether an exact release date would be revealed soon, simply saying, “I guess we’ll see.” This has led many to believe that a second trailer, potentially dropping later this year, could reveal the official release date.
While Take-Two refrained from sharing more information about GTA 6, they highlighted the continued success of GTA 5. The game, which will soon celebrate its ninth anniversary, has sold over 200 million copies globally and continues to dominate the charts. In June, it was the most downloaded game on PlayStation 5 and the second-best-selling game in Europe, a testament to its enduring popularity.
Although there is still a significant wait for GTA 6, the promise of a fall 2025 release has rekindled excitement among fans, and the anticipation for more trailers and details continues to grow.
